A Brave New World

As discussed on the clip you showed in class today here is a link, to George Stroumboulopolous's page on CBC.ca, telling of the announcement from Britannica that the 244 year old encyclopedia will be going out of print. The"Baby Boomers" will mourn the death of an, intellectual, era while the "Net Generation" just won't give a damn. As long as there are electronic currents powering their laptops, PCs, notepads, etc,  most would say, who needs the print version anyway?

How to pamper yourself, inside and out

Main: Jade Blend
A collection of:  Bamboo Rice, Wheat berries, Basmati Rice, Green Lentils, Split baby garbanzo beans, Daikon radish seeds.   Topped with roasted, slivered almonds and Scallion

Side:  Impromptu Yogurt Guacamole,
Avocado, chopped tomato, plain Balkan style yogurt, Lime juice, Rooster sauce and ground sea salt and pepper to taste.

This is what I had for dinner tonight. Lately, I haven't been feeling like myself.  A combination of winter weather, heavy thinking and incessant bus catching have finally caught up to me; making me feel off balance and depleted of essential, raw, nutrients.

After an uncomfortable and uneventful trip home this evening, I burst though my door, relishing in the idea that I had finally made it back to my safe, warm abode. With so much to do and very little energy to even organize myself with, I put Augustus Pablo onto my speakers, drew myself an Epsom salt bath - and without giving it any thought at all - indulged myself into my warm, bubbly ceramic utopia. This sounds great doesn't it?.. it would of been greater if it weren't for my speakers cutting out every other second! The only quick fix - with out having to actually move a limb to fix it - was to just emerge my head under water and hope that the faulty wiring of my Cerwin Vega's would fix itself out.

After my well deserved  bath, I took a bottle of Orange Blossom water out of my fridge, poured some into a spray bottle and just sprayed....sprayed like I have never sprayed before.  If you are unaware of the therapeutic benefits in which Orange Blossom brings, I must tell you.

Orange Blossom water is well....Orange Blossom distilled in water, commonly used in French and Middle Eastern desert dishes. Not only can you use this water for culinary purposes but you can also use it as a refreshing skin toner and soother. At the moment I am suffering  from a mysterious (possibly deadly) skin rash. Orange Blossom helps to aid and refresh irritated skin. Also, it's slight astringency helps to fight blemishes and refine pores. Its sent is light, smelling like, you guessed it....orange rind with a hint of grass.  This is a scent that brings you to a warm summers evening, when you and your friends decide to have an orange eating contest at the picnic table in your friends backyard. After the contest, you realize that your hands are wet and sticky, so you try to wipe your hands onto the grass. It's 8:47 pm and the last kindle of sun light settles down into the horizon. The cool night air meets the heat of the previously scorched summer ground, creating a mist that lightly blankets, and sweetens all matter underneath it; the deck, the picnic table, the soccer ball, the grass and of course, your sticky, grassy orange hands. If you close your eyes and imagine yourself in this moment, then you my friend, have discovered the essence of 'Orange Blossom Water'.
You can experience this at the low price of $1.97 for a 250ml. glass bottle from any local grocery store that carries a decent selection of ethnic/imported foods.

Where is the blog button on this keyboard???

So, I've tried aimlessly to find the right blog site for me. To make it to this point, where I'm actually entering in text to post on my newly acquired blog page, speaks volumes as to how far I've come in my quest to become a bonafied blogger. My first few visits to this site brought on the feeling of being a grade one student who was given a book on bio mechanics and told to read out loud to the class. My media literacy teacher, Nicole C., advised me to sign up with  Google plus - as she says, is an easier and more efficient way to blog. Well I did, and when it came time to verify my new account with the magical verification code that Google had text-ed to my mobile, the site would not accept it. When I finally had the ability to access my G plus account, I had no idea where to insert a blog or even if I was allowed to. I came full circle back to this site and am quite pleased with my progress.

I enjoy writing about myself and the funny instances that come about during my day to day activities. Having the room to write excessively about such things just confirms that blog spot.com should be my medium to do that - with its text box, equipped for those die hards who enjoy large amounts of aimless computer banter.

One topic I would like to write about in particular are restaurants. I am food aficionado and big time restaurant buff. Putting  my thoughts and opinions about the places I eat at will not only allow me to express my passion for  different types of food but will benefit the reader who is trying to find a decent place to eat, with-in the Niagara Region, and beyond!

Also, I take the bus..... a lot! writing about my bus stories will help me to vent my frustrations so i can be more at ease with my daily travel routine.

Other things that are worth talking about are all the little things that make my life so remarkably inconsistent, dramatic and very much worth living. For example, my daughter Ryleigh-May, My pet rat Sally and her brother Rico(my cat). My friends are my family so I couldn't write my blogs with out paying homage to them.

I hope you enjoy what I have to say. Hopefully I will enjoy this bogging thing - being able to carry on with it well after I pass Media Literacy with flying colors : )

Seriously, i don't get it

I am trying to navigate my way around this site. I am coming up feeling very pitiful and blog illiterate. How the hell do you design your blog page? I like Will's page, it looks polished. A polished page means polished blogs and that is what I want people to see on page. I wan't a polished page too!!! Help!

------Update -----

I figured it out; a bit trying still though : (
